Longhorn Cavern State Park
— Picnic Area

The park offers a shaded picnic area with views of the CCC officers’ quarters and observation tower.  Another picnic area popular with customers is located behind the visitors’ center.

 

When you leave the park continue following Park Road 4 west from Longhorn Cavern.  Be sure to stop at the roadside picnic area on the left after about 2 miles.  Broad views of the Colorado River Valley sprawl out to the west, making this a great stop to view an awesome Texas sunset.  After the overlook, the road drops steeply into the valley.
